    The Second Session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products (MOP2), scheduled to take place from 15 to 18 November was held virtually from 15 to 17 November 2021.

    Representatives of 59 Parties participated. Also present were representatives of 58 States non-Parties, one international intergovernmental organization (IGO) and seven nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), accredited as observers.

    The Ninth Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP9) to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC), scheduled to take place from 8 to 13 November, was held virtually from 8 to 12 November 2021.

    Representatives of 162 Parties to the Convention took part. Also present were representatives of six States Non-Parties, as well as four international intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) and 16 nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) accredited as observers.

    The First Session of the Meeting of the Parties (MOP) to the Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products took place in Geneva, Switzerland from 8 to 10 October 2018.

    The three-day session was the first gathering of the Parties to the Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products, following the treaty’s entry into force on 25 September 2018.

    Representatives of all 44 Parties to the Protocol took part. Also present were representatives of 56 Parties to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) that were not Party to the Protocol, four international intergovernmental organizations and nine nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), accredited as observers.
